New media has changed the ways of education. Many schools have used new media to connect with the younger generations. When it comes to assigning homework, readings, assignments, reminding students of important dates, if school is closed, etc. It can be crazy at times because students receive notifications from many different applications, such as Blackboard, CUNY Alert, etc. A suggestion can be to have a unified platform for Baruch where all professors and students, as well as the school itself, has access to which has almost anything one can think of. A platform where one can go to register for classes at the same time as checking the current classes they are currently taking. A platform where they have access to their transcript. A platform where professors can make announcements and assign homework. Where a calendar is readily available for students that has all the important dates/events. It becomes hectic when one has to remember all of their credentials for different websites when everything can be combined onto one platform.
A calendar would be a great idea for students, a single place where one can find due dates for all assignments and exams. One thing to note is that in order for this idea to work, Baruch needs to ensure all professors are using this platform. At Baruch I have had professors who are old fashioned and preferred everything to be distributed via paper in class. This practice can lead to confusion and higher chances of missed deadlines. If all professors were to participate in this idea, I believe students would benefit greatly from it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I totally agree with you. Making all of Baruch's website into a uniform one is crucial for the better daily function of students. I personally hated that Baruch have so many different website that I have to go to for different functions. I have to go to cunyfirst website, then login to view my course and payment plan. Have to login to blackboard to check my class assignments. Having a calender can save a lot of times for students. It is extremely inconvenient for students to have to kept typing different ID and password to all different website, where Baruch can just put all in one website. Having a calendar can help remind students of what is in taste the day, and where to get all the information and the deadlines. I wish Baruch can create this function soon.
